IPL 2025: Sanju Samson Cleared To Keep Wickets, Set To Resume Rajasthan Royals Captaincy

Rajasthan Royals (RR) have received a massive boost ahead of their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash, as skipper Sanju Samson has been cleared to return to wicketkeeping duties. (Points Table | Full Coverage)

The Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru has given the 31-year-old the go-ahead after he played the first three matches solely as a specialist batter due to a finger surgery last month.

In his absence, RR had adjusted their strategy, with Riyan Parag leading the team and Dhruv Jurel taking over wicketkeeping duties. However, with Samson now fully fit, he will reclaim the captaincy from Parag and resume his role behind the stumps.

"With this positive development, Samson will return to his full leadership role and resume captaincy from the team's next match against the Punjab Kings," RR said in an official statement.

"The franchise is encouraged by Samson's progress and looks forward to having him back in action behind the stumps and leading the side."

RR endured a tough start under Parag, losing their first two matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, they bounced back with a crucial win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati on March 30.
