During the first few years of the series, only a few bracelets were handed each year. In 1990, there were 14 bracelet events.
The number of events increased to 24, eight years down the line in 2000.
With poker gaining popularity, a decade later, 58 bracelets were awarded at the WSOP in 2011, seven at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), and one to the WSOP National Circuit Champion.
In 2017, 74 bracelets were awarded at the WSOP, and 11 more was awarded at the WSOPE in Czech Republic.
