The 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) concluded on Friday. Brazilian filmmaker Pedro Freire라이브 바카라 Malu was honoured with the Golden Crow Pheasant (Suvarna Chakoram) award for the best film.
Freire received the prestigious award from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during the festival's closing ceremony which was held at Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram. The award comes with a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh, a memento, and a certificate.
Malu is about a sporadic relationship of three generations of women inspired by his Pedro Freire mother's life.
Fasil Muhammed라이브 바카라 debut film Feminichy Fathima (Feminist Fathima) was the hero of the night as it took home multiple awards at IFFK. It bagged five awards. The Malayalam film was honoured with the jury prize, the audience poll award, the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Award for the best film in the international competition, a special mention in the Federation of Film Societies of India라이브 바카라 (FFSI) K.R. Mohanan Award for best debut director, and the Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award for the best Malayalam film.
The FIPRESCI award was also given to Sivaranjini J라이브 바카라 Victoria as the Best Malayalam Film. The KR Mohanan Award for Best Debut Director from India went to Indu Lakshmi for Appuram (The Other Side).
Iranian filmmaker Farshad Hashemi was awarded the Silver Crow Pheasant (Rajatha Chakoram) award for the best director for his film Me, Maryam, the Children and 26 others. It also bagged the NETPAC Award for the best Asian film in competition.
Director Midhun Murali라이브 바카라 Kiss Wagon earned a Special Jury Mention in the NETPAC Award for the best Malayalam film.
Cristobal Leon and Joaquin Cocina were honoured the Rajata Chakoram for the best debut director for the film Hyperboreans.
Anagha Ravi and Chinamaya Siddi received Special Jury Mentions for their performances in Appuram and Rhythm of Dammam. Hala Elkoussy라이브 바카라 East of Noon received a Special Jury Mention for technical excellence. Fasil Muhammed received the Best Screenplay award for his work in Feminichi Fathima.
All We Imagine As Light's director Payal Kapadia was honoured with the Spirit of Cinema award at IFFK 2024. In her acceptance speech, she said, “I made a film in Malayalam. It was a crazy decision. But I got a lot of support from everybody in the State. I will strive to honour the values of the Spirit of Cinema Award and continue to make films which are relevant to the times we live in.''
