Kapil Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, 2 Others Receive Death Threat Mail; 'Not A Publicity Stunt', It Reads

Based on the complaints lodged by the celebrities, a case has been registered under section 351(3) of BNS at Amboli and Oshiwara police stations. As per Initial investigations, the Internet Protocol (IP) address has been traced to Pakistan.

After Sugandha Mishra, Remo D'Souza and Rajpal Yadav, comedian-actor Kapil Sharma received death threat emails on Wednesday, as per media reports.

Based on the complaints, a case has been registered under section 351(3) of BNS at Amboli and Oshiwara police stations. As per Initial investigations, the Internet Protocol (IP) address of all the mails was traced to Pakistan. Earlier, on December 14, Yadav received a similar e-mail and filed the complaint with police on December 17. 

What did the mail say?

As per the complaints lodged by the celebrities, the threat e-mail read, "We have been monitoring your recent activities, and we believe it is imperative that we bring a sensitive matter to your attention. This is not a publicity stunt or an attempt to harass you."

It further stated that they should "treat this message with the utmost seriousness and confidentiality. Failure to do so may result in severe consequences that could impact your professional and personal life," it stated.

As per a report by NDTV, the email signed by one Bishnu, further stated that if they don't respond to it within the next eight hours, "we will take necessary actions".

Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan: Similar cases in recent times

Back in November, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has received a death threat and a demand for rupees 50 lakh, Mumbai police said, adding an extortion case has been filed in this connection.

The Mumbai police have also summoned a man from Raipur in this connection, a senior police official from the Chhattisgarh capital said. The threat to Shah Rukh Khan follows a series of threats issued to fellow actor Salman Khan, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

A month before Shah Rukh, another Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also received a death threat along with a demand of rupees two crore following which the Mumbai police had registered an FIR against an unidentified person, an official on Wednesday.

Knife attack on Saif Ali Khan

On January 16, actor Saif Ali Khan survived a brutal knife attack at his Mumbai Residence in the early hours of Thursday. The 54-year-old actor got six injuries, including one on his neck and one near the spine, in a brutal attack at his house in Bandra and underwent emergency surgery at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. On January 21, Khan was discharged from the hospital.

Mumbai Police on Sunday arrested Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30) from neighbouring Thane city for the stabbing incident. A Mumbai court on January 19 granted five-day police custody to Shehzad.
