Sony LIV unveiled the teaser of the upcoming series, The Waking of a Nation, created and directed by International Emmy-nominated filmmaker Ram Madhvani. The gripping show is all set to stream from March 7.

The Waking of a Nation is set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Taaruk Raina plays Kantilal Sahni, a lawyer, who is pushed into a web of colonial deceit.

As the Hunter Commission twists history to serve the British Raj, Kantilal battles with racism and fights for the truth in the courtroom drama. Kantilal with his childhood companions, Ali Allahbaksh (Sahil Mehta), Hari Singh Aulakh (Bhawsheel Singh) and Poonam (Nikita Dutta), unravel a conspiracy despite their different ideologies. Will they be able to find out the hidden truths or be consumed by them?

Speaking about the show, creator-director Ram Madhvani in a statement shared , “I have always been deeply interested in colonialism and, by extension, the issues of racism and prejudice. Questions surrounding cultural, linguistic, social, and artistic colonization have long troubled me. As I was contemplating my next project, I knew it had to be rooted in our past, in the British Raj, and in our freedom struggle. That라이브 바카라 when the idea for The Waking of a Nation came to life. Thanks to Sony LIV, we now have an exciting show that combines a courtroom drama with the powerful story of three friends and how India became India.”

The show has been produced by Ram Madhvani and Amita Madhvani under the Ram Madhvani Films banner, and is written by Shantanu Srivastava and Shatrujeet Nath and Ram Madhvani.
