Suriya starrer Retro is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year. The Karthik Subbaraj directorial has got a release date. The romantic action drama, also starring Pooja Hegde, is all set to hit the theatres on May 1, 2025.
On Wednesday, Karthik announced Retro's release date alongside a new poster. “The One from May One!! #Retro,'' he captioned it.
The title of the film was revealed on Christmas, along with a teaser video. The two-minute, 16-second teaser opens with a scene from temple, where Suriya and Pooja Hegde's characters are seen sitting on the bank of a Varanasi ghat and the aarti playing in the background. Suriya is seen in a black kurta while Pooja looked elegant in a sari. She ties a band around Suriya's wrist, and he looks into her eyes, and says in Tamil, “I will control my temper. I will stop working with my father. Violence, rowdyism, hooliganism. I’ll leave it all behind from this moment. I’ll try to smile and be happy. Retro also stars Joju George, Nassar, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Karunakaran, Sujith Shankar, and Prem Kumar, among others in key roles. Music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment has bankrolled the film.
