In a significant operation against Left Wing Extremism, security forces in Chhattisgarh라이브 바카라 Bijapur district killed 31 Naxalites during a fierce encounter on Sunday, according to police officials.
The gun battle also resulted in the deaths of two security personnel and left two others injured.
The latest confrontation took place early in the morning in the dense forests of the Indravati National Park area, where a joint team of security forces was conducting an anti-Naxalite operation. Inspector General of Police for the Bastar Range, Sundarraj P, confirmed the death toll of 31 Naxalites, adding that a large cache of weapons and explosives was recovered from the site.
The two security personnel who lost their lives included one member of the state police라이브 바카라 District Reserve Guard and another from the Special Task Force. The two injured officers, though reported to be in stable condition, were airlifted to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.
Security reinforcements have been deployed to the area, and search operations are ongoing. This incident marks the 81st Naxalite death in the state this year, with 65 of these fatalities occurring in the Bastar division, which includes Bijapur.
Last year, 219 Naxalites were killed by security forces in separate encounters across Chhattisgarh, police data shows.
