West Bengal's Baharampur seems to be emerging as a new arena for political confrontation between the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Part (BJP) and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The Murshidabad unit of the BJP has announced plans to build a Ram temple in Baharampur. The move is being seen as the BJP's countermeasure to a recent proposal from the TMC.
TMC MLA Humayun Kabir had suggested just a few days ago the construction of a mosque in Beldanga locality in Murshidabad district. The proposed mosque is slated to be modeled after the historic Babri Masjid in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya that was razed to the ground on December 6, 1992.
The construction of the Ram temple, as per the BJP's plan, is set to begin on January 22, 2025. It is precisely one year after the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. BJP라이브 바카라 Baharampur Organisational District President Shakharav Sarkar confirmed that the land for the temple has already been identified, and the project is estimated to cost Rs 10 crore, as quoted by PTI.
"We have already identified land in Beharampore area, and the construction work for the Ram temple, based on the design of the temple in Ayodhya, will begin soon," he told reporters.

TMC's Kabir, on the other hand, announced plans on Tuesday to build a mosque in Beldanga. He stated it would honor the sentiments of the region라이브 바카라 significant minority population.
His remarks have sparked political controversy. Opposition parties are accusing him of attempting to polarise communities for political gains.
The BJP라이브 바카라 decision to propose the construction of a Ram temple is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen its presence among the Hindu community in Murshidabad, where minorities constitute around 75 percent of the population.
The TMC, in the wake of the growing controversy, has distanced itself from Kabir라이브 바카라 remarks. The party described them as his personal opinion.
“The TMC has nothing to do with this statement about Kabir,” a senior party leader said, as quoted by media reports.
Kabir라이브 바카라 announcement has also drawn criticism from the Congress, which accused him of engaging in divisive politics in a sensitive region.
