A youth from Delhi collapsed while attending the Sunburn electronic dance music festival in Dhargal village, north Goa, on Sunday.

According to a police official, the youth was rushed to a hospital after the incident but passed away while undergoing treatment, as reported by news agency PTI.

The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Karan Kashyap, a resident of Rohini in west Delhi.

The exact cause of his death is still under investigation.

"The incident occurred at 9:45 pm on Saturday. Kashyap collapsed and lost consciousness and was immediately taken to a private hospital in Mapusa. He died while receiving treatment," PTI quoted a Goa Police spokesperson.

A post-mortem will be conducted at Goa Medical College and Hospital, and further action will be taken if any foul play is suspected, the Goa Police spokesperson added.

The Sunburn festival is one of Goa's most popular year-end events. However, the EDM festival has often been a topic of political debate in the state. In 2019, three people died after collapsing at the festival, sparking strong reactions from local politicians.

In a separate but similar incident, a 50-year-old woman attending her husband's retirement party in Kota, Rajasthan, collapsed and died last week.
