Mahakumbh 2025: Fire Breaks Out At Camp, No Casualty Reported; Efforts Underway To Douse The Flame

Fire department officials were promptly rushed to the scene at Sector 18 of the Maha Kumbh Nagar area in Prayagraj to oversee the operation. Several fire engines have been deployed as well to douse the flames.

A fire broke out at a camp in Sector 18 of the Maha Kumbh Nagar area in Prayagraj on Friday, fire officials said. No casualties have been reported so far.

Fire department officials were promptly rushed to the scene to oversee the operation. Several fire engines have been deployed as well to douse the flames.

Commenting on the development, Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi of Khak Chowk police station told PTI, "A fire broke out at a camp near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road. However, firefighters have managed to bring the blaze largely under control."

This came days after a stampede killed around 30 people on January 29, 2025, while around 60 were injured in the incident.

According to the UP government, over 397.4 million people have taken a holy dip in the sacred confluence of river Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati in the ongoing Maha Kumbh. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took a sacred dip.
