Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, chief of Air staff, emphasised that the oath taken by the newly commissioned officers was not just a ceremonial vow, but a lifelong commitment.
Reflecting on the significance of the moment at the Combined Graduation Parade at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad, he reminded the graduates that their allegiance to the Constitution of India would guide them throughout their careers in the Indian Air Force.
As they completed their rigorous training and stood on the threshold of their professional journey, he highlighted that this was only the beginning of a lifetime dedicated to service, growth, and the values of integrity and national duty.
In his address to the graduates, Singh acknowledged the years of effort and discipline that had gone into their training. He reminded them that this event, though significant, was merely the start of a much broader journey. “This is the culmination of years of perseverance and structured training as a cadet or flight cadet. But in reality, it is just the beginning. The beginning of new learning. The beginning of a life full of enriching experiences,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
Singh said that their careers would constantly push them to grow, adapt and expand their capabilities. “You will be constantly pressed to expand your horizons, increase your limits, discover new skills and capabilities. You will operate and maintain sophisticated aircraft and systems worth hundreds of crores,” he added. He reminded the cadets that their responsibilities would extend beyond technical expertise to evolving as air warriors, dedicated to serving the nation.
The air chief marshal also underscored the importance of maintaining physical and mental fitness. He encouraged the new officers to engage in sports, pursue hobbies and foster a habit of reading to keep their minds sharp.
He spoke solemnly about the oath the cadets had taken that day and reinforced its lifelong significance. “The oath you took today, bearing allegiance to the Constitution of India, is a commitment for life. Work honestly and faithfully with utmost dedication and integrity throughout your career,” he stated.
He further urged the cadets to remember that their service now extended beyond personal interests. “Now onwards, you live not for yourselves, but for others—the interests of your nation, the interests of the men and women placed below you,” Singh said.
Concluding his speech, the air chief marshal wished the newly commissioned officers an exciting and fulfilling career. He called on them to uphold the core values and traditions of the Indian Air Force. He urged them to carry forward its ethos with honor. “I urge each one of us in blues to uphold the ethos, traditions, and honour of the Indian Air Force. On behalf of the entire Indian Air Force, I wish an exciting and fulfilling career to the newly commissioned officers. May God bless us all with blue skies and happy landings.
