President Murmu Confers Padma Awards 2025, Honours 71 Distinguished Personalities

Late Osama Suzuki, Shekhar Kapur, Pankaj Udas mong those recognised at Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday presented Padma awards to a host of distinguished personalities, including the late Osamu Suzuki, renowned singer Pankaj Udhas (posthumous), the late Sushil Kumar Modi, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and Lakshmipathy Ramasubbaiyer, publisher of the Tamil daily Dinamalar.

Of the 139 names announced for the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri honours on the eve of the 76th Republic Day earlier this year, 71 recipients were conferred with their awards at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan라이브 바카라 Durbar Hall. The event was attended by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other dignitaries.

Amongst the awardees, four individuals were honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India라이브 바카라 second-highest civilian award. While Osamu Suzuki and celebrated Malayalam writer and filmmaker M.T. Vasudevan Nair were conferred the award posthumously, D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and AIG Hospitals, and violin maestro Lakshminarayana Subramaniam received their honours in person.

Ten eminent personalities were presented with the Padma Bhushan, including veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, Pankaj Udhas (posthumous), Sushil Kumar Modi (posthumous), former Indian hockey goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh, Tamil film actor S. Ajith Kumar, Zydus Lifesciences chairperson Pankaj Patel, and Vinod Dham, the Indian-American engineer widely known as the ‘Father of the Pentium’.

Fifty-seven individuals were recognised with the Padma Shri. Amongst them were Lakshmipathy Ramasubbaiyer, former State Bank of India chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, industrialist Pawan Kumar Goenka, Marathi author and wildlife researcher Maruti Bhujangrao Chitampalli, known for his distinctive dictionaries on birds, animals and trees, and Bhimavva Doddabalappa Shillekyathara, one of the first women to practise Togalu Gombeyaata (leather puppetry).

Former Director of AIIMS and SGPGI, A.K. Mahapatra, and celebrated Punjabi singer Jaspinder Narula Kaul were also among the recipients of the Padma Shri.
