Jhye Richardson picked up three wickets for 29 runs in four overs, and Jason Behrendorff conceded just 14 for two scalps in his four-over spell, as the Scorchers limited the Strikers to an eminently gettable total of 142 for eight in 20 overs.
In response, the Perth franchise began shakily, losing two wickets in the first two overs. But Finn Allen (50 off 23 balls) and Cooper Connolly (48 not out off 35) then took charge, and skipper Ashton Turner (35 not out off 18) helped take the Scorchers over the line in 14.3 overs.
With the win, the Scorchers, who are the most successful team in the history of BBL, ended 2024 in second place with six points from five games. The 2017-18 edition winners Strikers lie seventh with two points.
