Following a thrilling match between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars in Multan, Raja was conducting the award ceremony. While presenting the 'Catch of the Match' award to Multan Sultans' bowler Joshua Little for his spectacular catch dismissing Fakhar Zaman, Raja momentarily confused the leagues.
Praising the fielding effort, Raja stated live on air: "What a catch! Probably the catch of the HBL IPL."
The accidental mention of the rival Indian Premier League (IPL) instead of the ongoing PSL immediately caught the attention of viewers. Interestingly, Raja did not correct himself during the broadcast. The brief clip swiftly circulated online, sparking a wave of amusement and generating numerous memes and jokes across social media platforms.
The gaffe occurred after a much-needed victory for Multan Sultans, who finally registered their first points of the season after three consecutive losses. They successfully defended a mammoth total of 228 against the Lahore Qalandars, winning the match by 33 runs.
The foundation for Multan's imposing score was laid by Yasir Khan, who delivered a blistering knock of 87 runs from just 44 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. Iftikhar Ahmed provided crucial late impetus with a rapid 40 runs off 18 balls.
For Lahore Qalandars, Sikandar Raza fought hard with a 27-ball half-century, but his efforts weren't enough as the team finished on 195/9. Multan's bowling attack was spearheaded by 19-year-old Ubaid Shah, who made significant breakthroughs by dismissing Fakhar Zaman, Daryl Mitchell, and Sam Billings.
This win marked a crucial turnaround for the Sultans, who had endured a difficult start to their PSL 2025 campaign with significant defeats against Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Peshawar Zalmi.
