The former Manchester United boss has put pen to paper on an 18-month contract with the Turkish Super Lig side, with the option of extending the deal for the 2026-27 season.

It is the 51-year-old's first managerial position since his departure from Old Trafford in November 2021, as he replaces Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who left in November, at Tupras Stadyumu.

Solskjaer takes over with Besiktas sixth in the Turkish Super Lig table - 21 points adrift of leaders Galatasaray - ahead of facing Samsunspor on Saturday.

A two-time title winner at Molde, with whom he had two spells, Solskjaer also briefly managed Cardiff City, before initially taking charge of Man Utd on an interim basis in December 2018.

He oversaw 168 games in charge of United in all competitions, boasting a 54.17% win rate (won 91). In the Premier League, he averaged 1.81 points per game.
