Scottie Scheffler is adamant the "stupid" hand injury he sustained on Christmas Day will not affect his game, ahead of his return to action at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. (More Sports News)
The world number one required surgery to remove glass fragments from his hand, after suffering the bizarre injury while making Christmas dinner.
The reigning Masters and Players Championship winner was forced to miss the first two events of 2025 at The Sentry and Sony Open.
Having recovered from the operation, Scheffler will play his first competitive golf of the season at Pebble Beach, where he finished joint-sixth at last year's event.
And the 28-year-old, who is "not at all" concerned by potential impact from the surgery, says he will not be playing in any additional tournaments to make up for his early absence.
"It's one of those deals where, immediately after it happened, I was mad at myself because I was like: 'gosh, that's so stupid', but you just don't think about it when you're in the moment," he said.
"It really wasn't terrible, but I knew I kind of messed something up just because of the way my hand wasn't really moving much and, if I did move it, it hurt pretty badly. I kind of knew something was up.
"Missing those two events is not fun; I enjoy playing them. Just because I missed two, I don't want to change the flow and cadence of my schedule. If I feel like I want to add one to get some extra reps in, I will."
