The 27-year-old Smith from Sheffield shone in his previous bout, as he stopped Jose Zepeda in the fifth round to add the WBC silver title to his kitty. He is now up against a seasoned fighter who has defeated two unbeaten prospects in his last three fights to claim a genuine shot at the title.
"You have got to prepare like every fight is a world title, you’re in there with someone who is trying to take your head off. I’ve not overlooked Walid, for me this is a world title fight, because I know what can come after so I’m going to go in there and put on a performance that sets me up for some big things," Smith said ahead of the bout.
Ouizza, 33, is on an eight-fight win streak, but only entered the ring once in 2024. Smith is an unbeaten fighter over his 16 career bouts and is set to lift another belt above his head.
The card will also have Ellie Scotney facing Mea Motu for the super bantamweight title, and Harry Scarff meeting Conah Walker for Scarff's British and Commonwealth welterweight titles. Further, Hamza Uddin takes on Misael Ezequiel Graffioli in the flyweight category and Nico Leivars is up against Lewis Morris, and Muhammad Mustafa Ali meets Leonardo Baez in the super bantamweight category.
