Baby John starring Varun Dhawan hit the theatres on the occasion of Christmas, December 25. The action drama earned modest numbers on Day 1. Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule has overshadowed Baby John as the former saw an increase in collections on the 21st day of its release. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Baby John made a collection of Rs 12.5 crore in India (early estimates) on its first day whereas Pushpa 2 raked in Rs 19.75 crore.

Baby John witnessed 24.97% Hindi occupancy with evening shows saw higher occupancy rate of 30.89% while morning shows saw 13.92% occupancy.

Baby John is Varun Dhawan's best-ever opening at the box office in the last five years. His previous releases Bhediya (2022) earned Rs 7.48 crore on its first day, and Jugjugg Jeeyo (2022) collected Rs 9.28 crore on its opening day.

Baby John, which also stars Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff, didn't live up to the expectations. It received mostly negative reviews. However, fans were all praised for Salman Khan's cameo appearance.

The Kalees directorial is facing tough competition with other releases like Mufasa: The Lion King and Christmas release Max starring Kichcha Sudeep. The Kannada action-drama earned Rs 10 crore, record-breaking for a Kannada film in 2024. It is expected to perform well in the weekend.

Baby John is presented by Jio Studios, A for Apple Studios, and Cine1 Studios. Besides Atlee, the film is co-produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, and Jyoti Deshpande.
