Dwayne Douglas Johnson, born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California, is an American actor, producer, and former professional wrestler. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a professional wrestler of Black Nova Scotian and Irish descent, and his mother, Ata Maivia, is of Samoan heritage. His maternal grandfather, "High Chief" Peter Maivia, was also a notable wrestler. Johnson spent part of his childhood in New Zealand, where he played rugby and attended primary school. Upon returning to the United States, he excelled in football during high school, earning a full scholarship to the University of Miami.
