Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for US President Donald Trump's idea for Washington to take over Gaza.

Speaking to Fox News during his visit to the US, the Israeli leader hailed Trump's idea and stated that its the "first good idea he's heard".

"It라이브 바카라 a remarkable idea and I think it should be really pursued, examined, pursued, and done because I think it will create a different future for everyone,” said Netanyahu. The Israeli leader's comments come at the same time his Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered the IDF to draw up a plan which would call for the "voluntary departure" of Palestinians in Gaza.

“The actual idea of allowing first Gazans who want to leave to leave, I mean, what is wrong with that?” Netanyahu said, adding that Palestinians who left could come back after reconstruction was complete.

Donald Trump =, on Tuesday, announced that the US plans to "take long-term ownership" of Gaza, to relocate its residents to neighbouring countries while the US works to reconstruct it.

However, Trump's plan shadows what has happened in the previous wars between Israel and Palestine. During the 1948 Nakba, many Palestinian Arabs fled their land amid the war.

However, after the end of the war in 1949, Israel prevented Palestinian refugees outside of Israel from returning, leaving them homeless and stateless.

Israel's war on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, after Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a terror attack in southern Israel. The Hamas attack killed around 1,200 people and resulted in 250 being taken as hostages.

In response to the attack, Israel announced a complete siege of the Gaza Strip, cutting of aid, electricity and water, plunging the Palestinian territory into a humanitarian crisis. Since October 2023, over 45,000 people, including women and children, have been killed in Israel's bombardment of Gaza.

On January 19, 2025, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire for the next six weeks, bringing a halt to almost 15-months of fighting. During this, the remaining hostages were released in prisoner-swap with Israel. The negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire as underway.
