At least six people, including a teacher, have been injured after a student went on a stabbing spree at a high school in South Korea on Monday. None of the victims are in critical condition, Yonhap News Agency reported.
What Happened?
The incident took place around 8:40 a.m. local time, at a high school in Cheongju, 110 Kms south of capital Seoul.
The suspect is reportedly enrolled in a special education programme, which is designed for students with disabilities.
Allegedly, the student targeted the school teachers and other staff and started stabbing them with a weapon around 8:40 a.m. No students were injured.
The six victims were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries in their faces, abdomen and other body parts. Officials said that none of the victims is in critical condition.
The 18-year-old suspect jumped into a nearby reservoir after the incident, Yonhap reported. But he was rescued within 12 minutes and was transferred to a hospital, Cheongju police said.
The reason behind the stabbing attack is unknown. Police and Education authorities are looking into the matter to find out the exact circumstances which led to the stabbing attack incident at the high school.
