In response to President Donald Trump라이브 바카라 executive order to end birthright citizenship, many Indian expectant parents in the U.S. are opting for pre-term C-sections to secure citizenship for their babies before the looming February 20 deadline.
Reports indicate that numerous Indian women, especially those in their eighth or ninth month of pregnancy, are requesting early C-sections ahead of the February 20 cutoff.
Doctors speaking to Times Of India said that there has been a considerable amount of rise in such requests. Dr. SD Rama, who runs a maternity clinic, said: “A woman seven months pregnant came with her husband to schedule a preterm delivery, even though her due date is in March.”
However, some medical professionals have raised concerns about the risks of early births. “Preterm delivery, while possible, carries significant risks for both mother and child, such as underdeveloped lungs, feeding difficulties, low birth weight, and neurological issues,” Dr. Mukkala said.
On January 20, President Trump signed an executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants or those on temporary visas. Set to take effect by February 20, 2025, the order seeks to amend the 14th Amendment라이브 바카라 citizenship clause to exclude automatic citizenship for such children. This policy shift is creating additional anxiety for many families caught in long green card backlogs.
The situation is even more dire for undocumented immigrants.
