Amid the rift in Maharashtra's MVA alliance, Shiv Sena (UBT)leader Aditya Thackeray met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The rumblings in the Maharashtra alliance occurred after NCP (SP) Chief Sharad Pawar felicitated Deputy CM and Shinde Sena leader Eknath Shinde.
As per a PTI report, Thackeray and Gandhi are said to have discussed allegations against the Election Commission over its conduct of the recent assembly polls.
Reports further add that after Gandhi, Thackeray is also set to meet AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who just faced a major defeat in the national capital against BJP.
Rift In The MVA?
The opposition alliance - Maha Vikas Aghadi - has been in a turmoil since NCP's Sharad Pawar conferred the Mahadji Shinde Rashtra Gaurav Puraskar to Eknath Shinde.
In 2022, Eknath Shinde walked away with a majority of the leaders to topple the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. Following this collapse of the Shiv Sena, Shinde proceeded to become chief minister of Maharashtra with support from the BJP.
Furthermore, in January 2025, Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut stated that the Uddhav faction of Shiv Sena will contest the civic body polls alone.
This statement came after MVA's defeat in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
