A Delhi court has reserved its order on an NIA plea to extend the custody of Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman Tahawwur Hussain Rana for 12 more days, over his alleged role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Rana was brought to India after the US government approved the 26/11 accused's extradition. He has been remanded to 18-day NIA custody.

During the custody, Rana has allegedly been placed on suicide watch cell.

Furthermore, during the interrogation, NIA officials had stated that Rana had a similar plan to 26/11 for other India cities.

In 2023, the United States Supreme Court approved his extradition to India to be tried for his role in the Mumbai attacks. President Donald Trump confirmed this decision on February 2025.

Rana is a close associate of David Coleman Headley, an American citizen and one of the main conspirators behind the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. He is also a known member of the banned militant group Lahkar-e-Taiba.
