England had started well with the bat, but after a strong opening from Phil Salt and Ben Duckett, they suffered a collapse that Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell could not stave off as they were bowled out for 248.

Ravindra Jadeja (3-26) and Harshit Rana (3-53) both impressed with the ball, setting India up for a strong innings of their own.

Shubman Gill led the charge for the hosts with a knock of 87, with additional half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel helping them on.

Despite a late wobble, India held on to clinch the win with 68 balls to spare and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

"Pretty happy [with the result]. We all knew we were coming off a long time not playing this format," Rohit said. "We had to regroup as quickly as possible and understand what needed to be done.

"It didn't start off well, with the openers putting on pressure, but the way we came back was superb.

"This is a long-ish format when you have time to come back in the game. When things start coming away from you, it doesn't mean it'll keep coming away.

"Credit to the bowlers, everyone chipped in. We took wickets at crucial times and the energy was great on the field.

"I want us to keep doing the right things as often as possible. There is nothing specific we want to achieve; we want to tick every box that's there to be ticked.

"We pretty much managed to do that today. If we hadn't lost wickets at the end, that'd have been good."

India fell to 19-2 before Gill steadied the ship, plundering 14 fours during his stand, as he and Shreyas Iyer바카라 웹사이트put together a 94-run partnership for the third wicket.

"I was just trying to be positive," Gill said. "I think there was a bit in it for the fast bowlers with the new ball. I tried not to get on the back foot and tried to play the ball.

"When a player [like Iyer] comes like that, the opposition also goes on the back foot. Good decision on his part also helped me.

"I think it [the wicket] was sticking a bit. When the spinners were bowling, the odd ball was turning a bit. They bowled well. The fast bowlers, some were bowling nicely, some were sticking. We changed the pace well."
