The 24-year-old from Punjab finished with 135 from 54 deliveries, the highest score by an Indian in T20Is. He also created the record for most sixes by an Indian in a T20I innings with 13 sixes in his spectacular onslaught.

India lost Sanju Samson early but Abhishek remained unbothered and took the charge early on as he always does. The left-hander galloped to his fifty in the fifth over in just 17 balls, helping him create the record of the second fastest half-century by an Indian in T20Is. Only Yuvraj Singh, who hit a half-century in only 12 balls during the 2007 T20 World Cup, now has a faster T20I fifty than Abhishek among Indians.

Abhishek's onslaught helped India post 95 runs in the powerplay, the most they have ever scored in the first six overs.

The SunRisers Hyderabad opener kept going, sparing none of the English bowlers. He was unfazed by the pace of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. He smashed the change-ups of Jamie Overton and used feet brilliantly against Adil Rashid.

He slammed 10 sixes and five fours to reach his second T20I ton in just 37 balls. He reached his hundred in just 10.1 overs, the earliest anyone has in T20Is.

While Abhishek led with the best T20I score for India, Tilak Varma (24 off 15) and Shivam Dube (30 off 13) too contributed with quick cameos and helped the Men In Blue get to 247/9. This is now the fourth highest T20I total for India.
