England lost their last five wickets for just 19 runs and succumbed to a massive loss as they were bowled out for just 234. Mitchell Santner picked four wickets for New Zealand while Tim Southee and William ORourke got two wickets each. For England, Jacob Bethell and Joe Root scored fifties while Gus Atkinson got a quick 41 towards the end of the game.

Earlier, Kane Williamson's 156 saw the hosts amass a lead of 657 runs before dismissing the England openers cheaply, to leave the Kiwis in a commanding position at the end of the third day of the third cricket Test on Monday.

To compound an already dismal day for the tourists, England captain Ben Stokes limped from the field with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

England came into the match on the back of back-to-back wins in New Zealand in the first two Test matches. Thus, the visitors won the series 2-1 despite heavily losing the last Test. Harry Brook was adjudged the Player of the Series. Mitchell Santner was given the Player of the Match award
