Virat Kohli has announced his decision to walk away from Test cricket at the age of 36 on 12 May, and with it, brought down the curtain on one of the most storied captaincy and batting careers in red-ball history.
Over 123 Test matches and 9,230 runs later, Kohli has faced a number of opponents, most of whom he has vanquished with his batting prowess. In some battles, however, the bowlers have won.
Let라이브 바카라 have a look at the five greatest duels that Virat Kohli has faced in his Test career.
1. Virat Kohli Vs James Anderson
The duel between Kohli and Anderson is probably the most well-known in Test cricket circles, as the English pacer has been a thorn in Kohli라이브 바카라 side for more than seven years.
It all began back in the 2014 England tour, where Anderson dismissed Kohli five times, exposing a vulnerability against swing in seaming conditions. However, four years later, Kohli turned the tables, scoring 593 runs in the 2018 series at an average of 59.30. 114 of those runs came against Anderson, without ever getting dismissed.
That was not the end of the clash, though, as Anderson had a bit of a green spell against Kohli in 2021, dismissing him twice, but conceding runs at an average of 42.9.
2. Virat Kohli Vs Mitchell Johnson
Kohli라이브 바카라 clash, both with bat and ball and with a verbal spat, against Mitchell Johnson during the 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy is well-known. In the Melbourne Test, after a throw from Johnson struck Kohli, the duo engaged in a showdown on the pitch.
That tension led to an epic battle between the two, and Kohli finished the Test with a 169-run knock. In total, Kohli scored 145 runs from 157 balls against Johnson, but the Aussie dismissed him three times. It라이브 바카라 hard to say who came out the better in that fight!
3. Virat Kohli Vs Kagiso Rabada
Kohli has seen a dip in form over the last few years in the longest format, and his struggles against Kagiso Rabada during the 2022 series against South Africa were a highlight of the event.
In the 2022 Cape Town Test, Kohli eventually finished with 79 off 201 balls, before Rabada dismissed him in the series-deciding match. It was the third wicket for the South African against Kohli, whom he described as “a brilliant player”, and Rabada has dismissed Kohli twice more in 2023 and 2024.
4. Virat Kohli Vs Nathan Lyon
Kohli라이브 바카라 struggle against spin has been a bit too evident in the last couple of years, and Australian Nathan Lyon has been a persistent adversary to the batter in red-ball cricket.
Lyon had the upper hand at the beginning of this matchup, dismissing Kohli thrice in 2013 and conceding just 75 runs, but the batter roared back with centuries in both innings of the 2014 Adelaide Test, although Lyon dismissed him once in the series, along with taking 12 wickets for Australia.
Since then, Lyon added two more dismissals under his belt – seven in total. His tactics have been exploited by other spinners as well, particularly Moeen Ali, who has six wickets against Kohli in Test cricket.
5. Virat Kohli Vs Scott Boland
In the twilight of his Test career, Kohli came up against Australian seamer Scott Boland, with the latter making his Test debut only in December 2021. Since then, over three years, Boland has been phenomenal against Kohli whenever given an opportunity, racking up an astonishing five wickets while conceding 38 runs at a batting average of 36.5.
While Boland may not be a household name in a star-studded Australian team, he might be the one to hasten Kohli라이브 바카라 downfall in the longest format, effectively ending any hopes he might have had of a late career revival.
