Already qualified for the playoffs, the Red Miners started strongly seeking their record 13th win of the season. A long throw-in was cleared out of the Chennaiyin box, and it landed at Rei Tachikawa's feet just outside the 18-yard box. With great composure, Tachikawa struck the ball with his right foot, sending it into the bottom right corner to give Jamshedpur a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute.
The Marina Machans quickly found their equalizer with a swift counter-attack. A series of quick passes set up Farukh Choudhary, who made a well-timed run and played a lateral ball to Daniel Chima Chukwu. The forward brought it down with a deft touch before poking it past the goalkeeper for his fifth of the season. Chima Chukwu then made it a brace for himself by beating the Jamshedpur offside trap and scoring with ease–making it six league goals for the season.
With the victory, Chennaiyin finished the ISL 2024-25 regular season with seven wins and 27 points.
