Bengali play Nihsango Ishwar bagged the top honours at the 20th Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards. It received five awards across 13 categories, including best actor in a lead role, best original script, and best stage design among others, reported PTI.
It also bagged awards in two additional categories – best supporting role , which went to Chandrani Sarkar, and best production. Suman Saha received the best actor award in the lead role.
Directed by Suman Saha, the almost one-and-a-half-hour play, revolves around the last day of Lord Krishna라이브 바카라 life, set after the events of the battle of Kurukshetra and Lord Balarama라이브 바카라 death.
Swang: Jas ki Tas director Akshay Singh Thakur bagged the best director award. The film also received award for best sound and music design. Abhishek Gautam won the best actor in a supporting role award, for the film.
The Hindi and Bundeli musical drama also jointly won the best ensemble award with another Hindi musical play Chandaa Bedni. The one-hour-and-40-minute play won the best choreography, best light design and best actor (female) in a lead role was given to Ranjini Ghosh.
Best costume design award was given to Rajeshwari Kodagu for Kannada play Dashanana Swapnasiddhi.
Writer, translator, journalist and theatre critic, Shanta Gokhale was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
For its 20th edition, META nominated 10 plays from over 350 entries featuring a broad range of languages, including Bangla, English, Hindi, Bundeli, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The award ceremony was held on Thursday, March 20, following a week-long theatre extravaganza that began on March 13.
