Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta received congratulory messages from across the political circles soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party announced her name on Wednesday. Gupta won the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 from Shalimar Bagh seat and she thanked the BJP leadership for reposing trust in her for the CM role.
The BJP supporters along with Gupta's colleagues and family members were seen celebrating her achievement in Delhi. Celebrations were also witnessed in Nand Garh and Dumke which happens to be the ancestral village of Rekha Gupta.
Rekha Gupta Thanks BJP Leadership, Assures To Work With Dedication
Soon after the announcement, Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said she would work with full honesty, integrity and dedication for the welfare, empowerment and overall development of every resident of Delhi.
"I am fully committed to this important opportunity to take Delhi to new heights," Gupta said in a post on X.
"I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the top leadership for trusting me and entrusting me with the responsibility of the post of chief minister. This trust and support of yours has given me new energy and inspiration."
Ministers And BJP Leaders Congratulate Gupta
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday congratulated Rekha Gupta on being elected as the new chief minister of Delhi, saying the BJP government under her leadership will work day and night to fulfil the expectations of the people of the national capital.
"I extend my hearty congratulations and best wishes to Mrs @gupta_rekha ji on being elected the leader of the BJP legislative party. I have full faith that you will work with dedication in the direction of the resolution taken by Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji to make Delhi one of the top capitals of the world," Shah posted on X in Hindi.
BJP's observer for Delhi elections, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Rekha Ji has been chosen in a very good environment. This is also Modi Ji's thinking-to honour women by making them the Chief Minister of a state like Delhi. We will all work together to develop Delhi and make it shine."
Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde addressing few reporters after the announcement said, "It is a matter of great fortune for us that our 'ladli bahin' is becoming CM. All the 'ladli bahin' gave thumping majority to Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, that's why it is a great thing if our 'ladli bahin' becomes CM of Delhi."
"I would like to congratulate her. She has a great experience. I am sure she will fulfil PM Modi's dream for Delhi," said Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
Union Minister and BJP president JP Nadda in a post on X wrote, "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Smt. @gupta_rekha ji on being elected the leader of the BJP Legislative Party. I have full faith that under your able leadership, Delhi will progress towards new heights of development and good governance. Under the guidance of respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, you will work with full dedication to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Delhi. It will be our resolve to free Delhi from AAP-Da and take it to the top in the scale of development, facilities and cleanliness."
BJP leader Harish Khurana said, "Rekha Gupta becoming the second BJP Chief Minister of Delhi is a matter of pride for the party. This is a proud moment for the BJP and the people of Delhi. The development work that was stalled will resume from tomorrow, and the double-engine government will start working from tomorrow."
Manjinder Singh Sirsa in his congratulatory message stated, "We won last in Delhi in 1993, and since then, the way condition of Delhi has deteriorated, Rekha ji has got the opportunity to improve it. We thank PM Modi for giving this respect to a mother, a daughter..."
"I thank PM Modi for this historic decision of appointing Rekha ji as Delhi CM," said BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi on Rekha Gupta's appointment as Delhi CM.
AAP Leaders Also Wished The Next CM Of Delhi
Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal also congratulated Gupta. Atishi expressed hope that Gupta would fulfil the promises made by the BJP during the election campaign.
"I want to tell the new CM that the AAP will always stand with her for the development of Delhi. It's good news that a woman is going to lead a state. At present, barring Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, no woman is a chief minister. I also hope that Rekha Gupta will soon fulfil the BJP's promise of providing Rs 2,500 to women," she said.
AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, in a post on X, extended his best wishes to Gupta. "Many congratulations to Rekha Gupta ji on becoming the chief minister of Delhi. I hope she will fulfil all the promises made to the people of Delhi. We will support her in every effort for the development and welfare of the people of Delhi," he wrote.
AAP leader Gopal Rai said "BJP has announced the name of the CM. I would like to congratulate Rekha Gupta for this. For the last 10 days, Delhi was waiting for their next CM. We hope the BJP will fulfil the promises they made to Delhi."
