Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant, futuristic concept—it is very much a part of our present. While AI has existed for years, it has only gained widespread attention in the past two years, becoming mainstream. AI is already embedded in our daily lives, from smartphones to various automated systems, though its full potential is yet to be realized. The real-world application of AI is expanding rapidly, especially since the launch of ChatGPT, one of the most widely recognized AI chatbots.
Behind this progress are many AI experts, some well-known and others working behind the scenes. Among them is Girish Wali, an AI specialist and Senior Solutions Architect at CitiBank. His expertise lies in Deep Learning for business model optimization, making him a key figure in the global AI industry. With over 18 years of experience as a banking technologist across JAPAC, EMEA, and the Americas, Wali provides valuable insights into how AI can enhance everyday life.
Throughout his career, Wali has played a pivotal role in developing innovative AI solutions for the companies he has worked with, as well as for the broader AI community through his research. He is a USPTO patent holder and a Senior Member of IEEE, recognized for his expertise in banking risk management and process automation. His contributions extend to numerous academic publications, which serve as valuable resources for AI professionals and researchers. These publications can be found in leading academic journals.
Here are some excerpts from our interview with Wali:
What have you been working on in the AI field so far? Please explain it as simply as possible!
Wali: "My focus is on the development of AI that can provide real solutions to everyday business problems, on a larger scale, driving progress in industries through greater efficiency, more focused business activities, and reduced operational costs. In the long term, through the AI solutions I have already developed and am still developing, I hope AI implementation will no longer be foreign to key sectors of life such as healthcare, education, and finance. In short, AI should be available to everyone, and we can say that the democratization of AI can be realized."
What is your biggest achievement so far?
Wali: "There are several achievements I am proud of from my 18+ years in the banking world, specializing in AI/ML-based automation and regulatory compliance, but for me, the biggest one is the method for detecting suspicious activities in banking transactions, which is based on deep learning and implemented in a fog computing infrastructure. The widespread implementation of this method can reduce unnecessary expenditures worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually worldwide due to fraudulent behaviors that come in many forms. This detection method optimizes banking operations while also reducing risks of intentional leaks."
What makes your focus unique?
Wali: "For me, my work is unique because it라이브 바카라 not only technically impressive but also understandable to laypeople, and they can implement my AI solutions in their daily lives. Instead of focusing on making algorithms more sophisticated, I emphasize how my solutions can make AI more accessible for everyone. I initially entered the field through banking, in line with my academic discipline, but my goal is broader than that. I’m trying to make AI usage more widespread and not monopolized by certain individuals or groups."
What do you think about the future direction of AI development?
Wali: "Not everything can be predicted, and I may make mistakes about that, but what is certain is that AI will be more widely accepted, and fears about it can be reduced as more people understand what AI really is and how it can help them in their everyday lives. More people will become aware that AI is not a replacement for humans, but a complement to human life—a necessary complement, in fact. In other words, in the future, AI will likely become a necessity, and future generations may not be able to imagine life without AI."
Are AI applications important in today라이브 바카라 life?
Wali: "For me, they are extremely important because the times are changing, and an informal agreement among developers states that AI will not replace humans, but humans with AI will replace those who do not use AI. If businesses want to remain competitive, they cannot rely on conventional approaches that have many shortcomings. My USPTO patent has proven to enhance cybersecurity, streamline resources for financial decision-making, and create time-series prediction models useful for decision-making in the business world, particularly in banking."
"Business applications powered by AI can be great solutions for handling inefficiencies, fraud, and errors that are likely to occur in any workflow. Not only in banking, I have also provided solutions to reduce investment risks in commercial real estate, as outlined in my paper 'A Data Driven Risk Assessment in Fractional Investment in Commercial Real Estate Using Deep Learning Model and Fog Computing Infrastructure' published last year. I have also worked on overcoming barriers in the healthcare sector with solutions presented in my paper 'Integrating Blockchain and Deep Learning for Enhanced Supply Chain Management in Healthcare: A Novel Approach for Alzheimer라이브 바카라 and Parkinson라이브 바카라 Disease Prevention and Control.' My solutions have proven effective in addressing unavoidable risks in banking, education, and healthcare. In the future, there will be more AI solutions, both from me and other experts, to make human life easier and improve its quality."
"AI holds great potential, much of which is determined by the automation it handles. For those who still cannot foresee how AI will be a game-changer, AI can accelerate medical research aimed at creating new drugs and surgical methods to save more lives, create a more personalized education ecosystem, streamline administrative tasks, drive smart transportation, and even make more accurate climate change predictions. Major natural disasters we’ve faced could be mitigated with predictive AI technology."
Looking Ahead
For Girish Wali, the year 2025 will be the year of a major shift in the AI world, from Generative AI technology to AI Agent technology, which will allow machines to make decisions or take actions within boundaries set by the user. The AI Agent era is predicted to transform how people do business and handle their daily activities. The world may never be the same again. He has contributed significantly to the development of real-world AI solutions and hopes that his work will inspire more young researchers to follow in his footsteps.
