In a turn of events, China, Japan and South Korea have joined hands to counter the United States and President Donald Trump's tariffs.

As per Chinese State Media, the three neighbouring countries held their first economic dialogue in five years, in which they discussed how to counter the tariffs from the United States.

As per the post linked to China Central Television, all three countries agreed to "strengthen supply chain cooperation and engage in more dialogue on export controls."

However, as per South Korea's trade ministry, the suggestion of a joint response against the US is "exaggerated."

"The suggestion that there was a joint response to U.S. tariffs appears to have been somewhat exaggerated," Seoul's trade ministry told Reuters.

Japan, on the other hand, has stated that there was no such meeting regarding countering US tariffs.

Speaking about the meeting at a press conference, Japan's Trade Minister Yogi Muto stated that the meeting focused on regional and global trade.

The trade meeting comes ahead of Trump's planned announcement of more tariffs, in what the US President has dubbed as "liberation day."

While Seoul and Tokyo have denied the joint effort against US tariffs, Donald Trump's new trade policy has certainly brought the three countries closer.

China, Japan and South Korea will also work to promote regional trade as they face challenges from the US. As per reports, a Free Trade Agreement between all three countries is also on the cards.
