A small plane crashed in the US' South Florida region near a major interstate highway and railroad tracks, the Associated Press reported.

Local officials said the aircraft crashed just southwest of the Boca Raton airport. Aerial footage shared by NBC affiliate WTVJ from the scene of the accident appears to show debris littered across a roadway just west of Interstate 95. Debris could also be seen across a pair of train tracks nearby

Video taken by an onlooker also showed a car in flames near the site of the crash. “Possible plane crash right outside my office today,” wrote X user @DrDronezChannel, who shared the footage online. “Shook the whole building. Unfortunately I’m certain lives were lost here today.”

In a statement shared with Nexstar, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration said the plane, a Cessna 310, crashed at around 10:20 a.m. after departing from the nearby airport. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA will be investigating, the spokesperson said to DC News.

This comes just a day after a tourist helicopter crashed into New York City's Hudson River, killing all six aboard, including three children. While officials did publicly identify those killed, a New York Post report said that those onboard included the president and CEO of Siemens in Spain and his wife and children.
