Pakistan Train Hijack: Women, Children Being Used As Human Shields; 155 Hostages Rescued

As the rescue operations continue in the Pakistan train hijack, local reports have stated that around 155 hostages have been rescued. Officials have stated that the rescue operation has been "increasingly difficult" as the BLA militants are using women and children as human shields.

On Tuesday, militants from the Baloch Liberation Army hijacked a Pakistan railways operated Jaffar Express as it travelled from Quetta to Peshawar. Across the nine bogies, around 450 passengers are assumed to have been on board the train.

Justice Subramonium Prasad passed the interim order as he heard defamation suit filed by Isha Foundation against Singh and social media intermediaries.

FM Sitharaman Assures Financial Stability For Manipur, Lays Out Rs 35,000 Crore Expenditure

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on March 11 assured the Parliament that the government was providing all assistance to violence-hit Manipur to speed up its economic recovery.

FM Sitharaman had earlier on March 10 tabled the Budget for financial year 2025-26 (FY26) for the strife-ridden state of Manipur with a total expenditure of Rs 35,104 crore, up 7.5 per cent from the revised estimates of FY25.
