A group of Khalistan extremists allegedly tried to attack External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during his visit to London. As per reports, the incident took place after the Indian minister left an event at Chatham House.

A video circulating online shows a man running towards the EAM's car and tearing the national flag.

Another video showed Khalistan extremists protesting outside the venue while waving flags and pro-Khalistani slogans.

Over the past few years, the threat to Indian diplomats and diaspora from Khalistan extremists in the UK, US and Canada has increased.

While the row has prompted an official downgrade in ties between India and Canada, India continues to raise its concerns regarding the increased activities in the US and UK as well.

Earlier in the UK, Khalistan extremists had stormed a cinema in London's Harrow to try and stop the screening of the Kangana Ranaut starrer film "Emergency".

"We consistently raise concerns with the UK Government regarding incidents of violent protest and intimidation by anti-India elements, freedom of speech and expression cannot be applied selectively and those obstructing it must be held accountable," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in response to the incident.

As per the External Affairs Minister, India and UK held "wide-ranging and productive" talks over the past two days regarding the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between New Delhi and London, strategic coordination and political cooperation.

“Held wide-ranging and productive talks with Foreign Secretary David Lammy over past two days at the Chevening House. We discussed the entire gamut of bilateral ties, especially our focus on strategic coordination, political cooperation, trade deal negotiation, education, technology, mobility and people-to-people exchanges. Agreed to formulate the next steps to further strengthen and structure them,” said External Affairs Minister (EAM) Jaishankar in a post on X.

After his meetings at the Chevening House, EAM Jaishankar was scheduled for an in-conversation session entitled ‘India라이브 바카라 rise and role in the world’ at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, also known as the Chatham House in London.
