In a major political overhaul, Governor RN Ravi has approved Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin recommendation to reshuffle the state cabinet following the resignations of two senior ministers, V Senthil Balaji and Dr. K Ponmudy, ANI reported.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government is looking to rebuild public trust and restore stability in the state ahead of the state elections scheduled next year.
The swearing in ceremony of the new ministers and updated ministries is scheduled to take place on April 28 at Raj Bhavan, Chennai.
What are the changes?
Stalin has initiated the inclusion of T Mano Thangaraj, MLA from Padmanabhapuram Assembly Constituency into the cabinet.
RS Rajakannappan will now oversee the Minister for Forests and Khadi - who formerly managed the Minister for Milk and Dairy Development.
The reshuffle further involves SS Sivasankar handling the Electricity portfolio, while another senior minister S Muthusamy will handle the Prohibition and Excise ministry.
Which ministers resigned?
V Senthil Balaji served as the Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise. After the Supreme Court라이브 바카라 intervention, he tentatively left office. He was arrested in June 2023 for being involved in money laundering under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. He was granted bail by the apex court in September last year.
After his bail, the court raised questions over his legitimacy to rejoin office while he was out on bail. Balaji had to submit his resignation amid legal questioning and distrust among the voters.
Ponmundy was mired in controversy for making a religious and sexually offensive joke earlier this month. He was dismissed from his post of party라이브 바카라 deputy general secretary after the video of his derogatory remarks went viral. Previously, he made misogynistic comments about women taking free bus rides and linking north Indians and selling pani puri in Southern India.
Stalin라이브 바카라 major changes to his cabinet are seen as his attempts to save voter라이브 바카라 confidence as his previous ministers increasingly drew public scrutiny through controversy and legal cases.
