Telangana became the first state in India to officially implement Scheduled Castes (SC) categorisation on Monday, as per the reports. The issuance of GO coincides with the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution.
What Is SC Sub-Categorisation?
SC sub-categorisation is the categorisation of SC on the basis of remaining inequalities within the SC community and for ensuring a logical distribution of opportunities and reservation benefits.
Telangana Health Minister, Damodar Raja Narasimha said, “SC categorisation is not the ultimate solution. It needs financial assistance, education and skill development, house sites and industrial policies in favor of SCs to eliminate social-economic backwardness of the SC community," PTI reported.
SC categorisation Bill
The Supreme Court gave a verdict in favor of categorisation last year. The SC (Rationalisation of Reservation) bill, 2025 was passed last month.
GO said, “The following act of the Telangana Legislative received the assent of the Governor of Telangana on April,8, 2025 in the Telangana Gazette for general information," PTI reported.
Recommendations of categorising 59 SC communities in three groups and total reservation of 15 percent in government jobs and education were made.

Supreme Court라이브 바카라 Reservation Rule
The Supreme Court has sub categorised the SC community in three groups.
First Group
The group I contains the most socio- economically and educationally backward 15 SC communities. This group contains 1.71 lakh people, who will be given 1 percent reservation based on their population and backwardness.
Second Group
Group II, contains moderately benefited 18 communities with a population of 34 lakh. They will be provided a nine percent quota.
Third Group
Group III, containing 26 significantly benefited SC communities, with a population of 17 lakh will be given 5 percent reservation.
N Uttam Reddy On SC Categorisation
Telangana Irrigation Minister, N Uttam Reddy told reporters, “ From today, from this moment, SC categorisation will be implemented in Telangana in employment and education. Telangana is the first state to implement it after the Supreme Court라이브 바카라 verdict”.
He added that all job vacancies in the state government will be filled according to the SC sub categorisation. He further mentioned that if the SC population rises in the 2026 census, the reservation would also go up accordingly.
