The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may delay the announcement of the one-day international squad for the three-match series against England as well as the provisional squad for the Champions Trophy. (More Cricket News)

It was expected that the Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar would announce the provisional squad for the global tournament, set to be held in Pakistan and UAE by January 12, according to the guidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

However, they are likely to request for an extension according to a Cricbuzz report. However, the T20 squad for the five-match series against England is expected to be announced soon. 

The ICC asks teams to submit a provisional squad at least a month prior to the start of the global event, with the option to make further changes . 

However, this time around, the ICC has requested teams to announce the squads five weeks prior to the tournament. 

BCCI is likely to request for more time, citing the Test match commitments over in Australia. It is expected that the provisional Champions Trophy squad will feature players from the three home ODIs against England, and will be named on January 18 or 19th.

The report also said that Shami is expected to be cleared fit by the BCCI라이브 바카라 Sports Science wing at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, after featuring for Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25.

The 34-year-old last played for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup in November. India will play England in a  five-match T20I series and three ODIs, starting January 22.
