Earlier, ENG-W skipper Abigale Norgrove won the toss and elected to field first and her bowlers did not disappoint. Despite a fast start from the Kiwi women, the English girls stuck to their lines and lengths.

Kate Irwin had given the New Zealand girls a fast start (35) but post her wicket, all came tumbling down. ENG-W's Tilly Corteen-Coleman scalped four wickets as NZ-W were all out for 89.

In reply, the English girls started off well and Jemima Spence (29) and Davina Perrin (21) gave them a fast start. Despite few wickets in the middle-overs, ENG-W won the game in 11.4 overs and six wickets in hand.
