Sanju Samson (RR Captain): We would like to bowl first due to the expected dew conditions. Every game in the IPL is crucial, and we are grateful for the momentum gained from our last two matches. It feels great to be back. We have a largely new team, with only six players retained, so we have taken time to gel and understand our roles. The wicket looks excellent and is expected to remain consistent. Hasaranga is unavailable due to personal reasons, and Farooqi will be coming in to replace him.

Shubman Gill (GT Captain): I would have chosen to bowl first as well. Based on recent matches, the dew tends to arrive during the second innings, but we are batting first today. We are focusing on one game at a time and not keeping track of how many games we have won. If our top three or four players perform well, I am satisfied with that. We have had a strong run at home, and I hope that continues. The support from our fans has always been incredible. We have made no changes to the lineup.

Kulwant Khejroliya conceded just five singles in his second over but leaked 16 runs including two fours and a six in his next over. Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer are trying to rebuild innings.

Shimron Hetmyer was looking good but Prasidh Krishna dismissed him and Jofra Archer in the 16th over to keep the match in their favour. Sai Kishore dismissed Tushar Deshpande in the next over. And he put the final nail in the coffin by dismissing Maheesh Theekshana in the final over of the match. GT won the match by 58 runs.

Around 15-20 runs too many in the bowling. Whenever we wanted to carry the momentum we lost wickets, when me and Hetmyer were batting it was still chaseable but my wicket changed the game. There was some purchase, the way Jofra bowled and picked Gill's wicket.. But the way we bowled at the death, we need to look at it in the meeting tomorrow and come back better. When you lose games we also think should we have chased or batted first, we were expecting these conditions, this was a really good wicket, we want to respect the conditions and want to be a team who can win games while chasing.

Good total on the board, it wasn't easy in the first 3-4 overs. The way Sai and Buttler batted was amazing. We'll take 220 any day of the week. And then our fast bowlers were very clinical to finish off the job. If you have difficulty in choosing the man of the match, it is a good problem for us to have. We are having a team where everyone contributes. Very pleased, when you have bowlers like Rashid it makes the captain's job easy. (On if the senior players bully him) Everyone is very nice to me.

IPL is the kind of tournament where you need the momentum from the start. Always a joy to contribute to team wins. The wicket was seaming a bit, so I took some time but knew we couldn't take a lot of time. Then I wanted to take the game deep. We wanted to have wickets for the death. We have the awareness if we lose early wickets that the set batter has to play long. I always try to see what I can do better, trying to improve my awareness and skill. I have worked a lot of basics which is helping me be a versatile batter.

With this win, the Gujarat Titans are now at the top of the points table, having won four of their five matches, whereas the Royals have slipped to seventh place.

Gujarat Titans will take on Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, whereas the Rajasthan Royals will host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday in Jaipur.
