India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 3 Highlights: AUS Clinch BGT With 6-Wicket Win

The first ball on the third day of the fifth and final Test will be bowled at 5am IST, like the first and second days. The match is being live streamed on the Disney+Hotstar app and website, and telecast on the Star Sports TV channels in India.

It is the Jane McGrath day at the Sydney Cricket Ground and we had Jasprit Bumrah with his pads on earlier on. Surely, he will bat. But will he bowl? That is the big question. Anyway, Jadeja and Sundar have begun the day. Cummins is bowling the first over.

Cummins bowls Sundar. Length delivery that comes back into Sundar after pitching and the left-hander just does not have enough time to adjust as the ball sneaks in between his bat and pad. Cummins gets his third wicket. Sundar out for 13.

Jasprit Bumrah is in the middle now. He is batting. Remember, he scored a crucial 22 in the first innings. He would like to do something similar.

Boland gets his fifth. Siraj departs. It is all happening quickly at the SCG. Length ball, outside off and Siraj goes fishing at it. The ball takes an edge and goes into the hands of Khawaja in slips. Third umpire just confirmed if the catch was clean or not. And he decides it is a fair catch. So India are nine down.

Boland cleans up Bumrah to get his sixth wicket of the innings. Bumrah can not open his account and Indian second innings is wrapped up. Bumrah goes for a leg side swipe on this length ball but misses and the ball crashes into the leg stump.

So, it is simple now. India need to bowl Australia out before 161 to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Will they have Bumrah? It still remains to be seen.

For India, yet again it was only Rishabh Pant who did the scoring with a stunning 33-ball 61. They lost the last four wickets today after just adding 16 runs. Not the best start of the day. Australia have a small target in front of them. They will back themselves to chase the total especially if India are without Bumrah.

Not a good first over from Siraj. He concedes a boundary off a wide ball and then finishes the over with a fullish delivery that is lofted by Konstas down the ground for a boundary. 13 from the opening over.

AUS 13/0 need 149 to win

Bad news for India and perhaps that will seal the fate of this game too. Bumrah seems like having enough issues with his back that he will not be able to continue in this match. Big jolt for India.

Terrible start from Prasidh Krishna as well. Indian bowlers are showing no discipline and the game has been taken away from them right in the first two overs. Poor from Prasidh now. He concedes 13 runs off his first over. This is not what India needed in Bumrah's absence.

Back-to-back bad balls on the pad from Siraj and Konstas takes him to consecutive boundaries on the leg side. It is slipping away like sand from the Indian hands. The bowlers need to show some discipline.

35/0 need 127 to win

First strike. Prasidh Krishna sends back the dangerman Konstas. Another big slog from Konstas and the ball flies off the leading edge to Sundar at mid-off who takes an easy catch. First wicket for India. They would hope this brings their bowlers to some form. Konstas departs for 22 off 17.

AUS 39/1 need 123 to win

Indian bowlers need to get their lines right. This one from Prasidh is at Labuschagne's pads and all the batter has to do is to flick it. And Labuschagne does not miss out on it. Boundary for him and India under pressure.

AUS 47/1 (6) need 115 to win

Prasidh gets another one. His second wicket. The tall Kannadiga is keeping India in the match. Now, he gets Marnus Labuschagne. Width on offer and Labuschagne goes hard for a slash only to edge to Jaiswal at third slip. India still have some runs on the board. But they would want more wickets.

AUS 52/2 (8) need 110 runs to win

Prasidh is on fire. Now he gets Smith. His third wicket and India are making a comeback. Extra bounce from length outside off is too much for even Smith to handle. Edge and caught by Jaiswal. The crowd is loving it. We are setting up for a thriller.

AUS 58/3 (10) need 104 runs

First session is done. India lost their last four wickets quickly. Australia need 162 to win and out of that they have scored 71. They have also lost three wickets, all to Prasidh Krishna. Exciting finish loading. We will be back.

AUS 71/3 (13) need 91 runs

We are back for the second session which perhaps would be the last of the match. Australia need 91 runs to win. India want seven wickets. A few quick runs will put India under pressure while a couple of wickets will make Australia sweat. Thrilling finish awaiting us.

Edge and a boundary. Siraj with a full ball outside off. Khawaja wants to drive and gets an edge but the ball goes past a diving third slip for a boundary to the third man fence.

AUS 81/3 (15) need 81 runs to win

Siraj bowled the entire over well before giving width on the final ball to get hit four a boundary. Khawaja loved the width and threw his hands at that to carve a boundary behind square on the off side. Australia marching towards victory now. Khawaja leading the charge.

AUS 92/3 (17) need 70 runs

Poor bowling. A few good balls and then a few bad ones. The pressure is just not building. Both Prasidh and Siraj have been guilty of doing the same. It seems the game is done. Two boundaries from this Prasidh over. One by Khawaja and one by Head. Both of them on overpitched balls.

AUS 104/3 (18) need 58 runs

Usman Khawaja is caught behind. Short of a good length from Siraj and Khawaja goes for a pull but under edges this ball to the wicket-keeper Pant. Khawaja departs for 41 off 45. Can the Indians turn the game around? Tough task.

Khawaja's wicket was Siraj's 100th in Test cricket. He is averaging 30.56 currently in 30 matches. Can he make this Test match more memorable for himself?

India lose a review. Full from Siraj and the ball comes into Webster who is hit on the pads. Umpire says not out and India after a lot of deliberation go upstairs. But it is hitting the pads outside the line of off stump. So, not out given.

AUS 119/4 (21) need 43 runs to win

KL Rahul is in some problem here. The ball took an edge and dropped just short of him in slips as he put on a forward dive. He has hurt his fingers and is getting some treatment. Australia look set to seal the game here.

Just 18 runs away from victory. Australia doing very well here. Head and the debutant Webster are looking all set to guide Australia to a series victory at SCG.

AUS 144/4 (24) need 18 runs

Australia win by six wickets.

Sundar into attack and Webster jumps out of his crease to hit a boundary down the ground to close the game. Webster finishes with 39 and what a debut for him. Head goes back unbeaten at 34. And Australia have won a Test series against India after a long wait of 10 years.

Australia won by 6 wkts

Australia win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1. The last time they won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was in 2014-15 when they defeated India 2-0 in a four-match series.

In the end, Australian batters were better, Australian bowling was deeper and all India had was Jasprit Bumrah. He tried his best but his injury just showed what India was lacking. Australia easily chased down 162, a target that would have been far trickier had Bumrah not pulled out due to injury. Credit to Australia though. They have ended a decade-long drought of a series win against India. Smith, Head were their best batters while Boland was the standout bowler. For India, some big questions await. Have Rohit, Virat played their last Tests? Is Gill good enough for Test cricket? Is Rahul consistent enough? Do India have a replacement for Ashwin? Questions are aplenty but overall they gave a good fight in the series and they should be proud of it.
