The Indian Premier League (IPL) will get things underway this week, after India and Pakistan agreed to ceasefire after days high tension at the borders. The first IPL 2025 game will be played on May 17, Saturday between Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Kolkata Knight Riders.
“A total of 17 matches will be played in six venues starting May 17, 2025, and culminating in the final on June 3, 2025. The revised schedule includes two double-headers, which will be played on two Sundays,” the official statement from the BCCI read.
The playoffs are scheduled as follows:
Qualifier 1 – May 29
Eliminator – May 30
Qualifier 2 – June 1
Final – June 3
However, the BCCI have not confirmed the venue details for the playoff matches and will release it for a later stage.
The Indian Premier League 2025 was suspended by the BCCI last week with the PBKS vs DC match called off after 10.1 overs in the first innings. Arun Dhumal was seen evacuating the spectators at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala.
“While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the Nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country. The BCCI remains firmly committed to support all efforts that safeguard India and will always align its decisions in the best interest of the nation,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had said in a statement.
