WTA Italian Open: Coco Gauff Sees Off Magda Linette, Sets Up Emma Raducanu Meeting In Last 16

Having had to come from behind in her opener in Rome, Gauff needed just one hour and 42 minutes to triumph 7-5 6-3.

Gauff started brightly, going a break up to earn a 3-1 lead, but Linette responded immediately and levelled the score again shortly after.

Both players looked strong on serve, but Gauff found another edge right at the end of the first set to get on top.

The pair again traded breaks in the second set, with the American twice going a break up. At 5-2, Gauff had three match-point attempts, but Linette held her serve.

The Pole tried to hold off Gauff in the final game, but after stopping Gauff from converting a fourth match point, she could not do so a fifth time.

Gauff will face Emma Raducanu in the round of 16, after the Brit staged an impressive comeback to beat Veronika Kudermetova.

Raducanu won in two and a half hours, claiming a 7-5 6-0 6-1 victory.

Raducanu had got into a promising position at 5-4 in the first set, but she lost her next two service games as Kudermetova took the lead.

However, the Russian's momentum swiftly left her as Raducanu rallied in style with an eight-game winning streak, taking the second set before setting up a strong finish.
