Islamabad United continued their dominant run in the Pakistan Super League 2025 with a stunning 6-wicket win over Karachi Kings at the National Stadium on Sunday night. (Match Highlights | More Cricket News)
Chasing a modest target of 129, the visitors got over the line in just 17.1 overs, keeping their unbeaten streak alive with four wins from as many matches to stay on top of the standings with 8 points.
Karachi came into this match with their spirits high after crushing Quetta Gladiators by 56 runs in their last outing, but tonight, they simply ran into a red-hot Islamabad side that looked a class apart.
After being asked to bat first, Karachi Kings struggled to find any rhythm. Tim Seifert showed some resistance with a gritty 37, but the innings lacked fluency as wickets tumbled at regular intervals.
It wasn’t until the final overs that Abbas Afridi injected some life, smashing a quickfire 24 off just 9 balls, including three towering sixes. Despite his late fireworks, Karachi could only muster a below-par 128/7 at the end of their innings.
Naseem Shah, Jason Holder, and Shadab Khan picked up two wickets each.
And then came the chase, easy. Sahibzada Farhan set the tone early with a punchy 30 off just 18 balls.
Azam Khan then anchored things with a patient 31, but it was captain Shadab who once again stole the show. A brilliant all-round performance was capped off with a knock of 47 off 40 balls.
Even though Karachi managed to take a few wickets late in the innings, the result was never really in doubt. Hasan Ali bagged two, but the hosts just didn’t have enough runs on the board to challenge Islamabad and they lost the match by 6 wickets.
Up next in their campaign, Islamabad United will face the winless Multan Sultans on April 23, while the Karachi Kings will take on Peshawar Zalmi on April 22.
