Nepal, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, got off to a decent start, but fell apart as Onnicha Kamchompu picked three wickets for Thailand.
Opener Samjhana Khadkha top-scored with 17, while Kabita Joshi scored 14. Indu Burma and Rajmatee Airee were the other two batters who scored double digits as Nepal were reduced to just 81/7 in 20 overs.
Chasing a below average total, Thailand lost Aphisara Suwanchonrathi early on in the innings for just five, while Nattaya Boochatham was sent back for 11.
However, Koncharoenkai and Chaiwai did the needed, stitched a solid partnership, and drove their side to the top of the table.
