Riding on Ashleigh van Wyk's spell, South Africa women batters did their part of the job as they chased down a paltry score of 106 against Australia women in the 1st semi-final to be played at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur in the ongoing ICC U-19 Women's T20 WC 2025. Van Wyk's 4/17 derailed Australia's momentum, as only Caoimhe Bray's 36 was a respectable score for the women in yellow. The Aussies could only muster 105/8 in 20 overs as Proteas smelled victory.
In reply, the Proteas women lost wickets early, but Jemma Botha's impactful 37 set them towards victory. Despite flurry of wickets late on, South Africa women held on and registered a fine five-wicket win, to seal their spot in the final.
South Africa will now await the winner of India women vs England women in the second semi-final, which will start soon, at the same venue.
