Mohammad Rizwan & Co. were humbled by 80 runs in a rain-affected tour opener. The visitors, however, were at their devastating best, mauling Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the second outing. They will of course start as heavy favourites in the series decider.
For the hosts, this is a golden opportunity to register their first-ever ODI series win against Pakistan.
Player in focus
Pakistan's 148/0, with Abdullah Shafique also unbeaten on 32 off 48, is now the lowest total in ODI history to contain an individual century. Ayub's ton is the fourth fastest for Pakistan in the format, only behind imperious Shahid Afridi's 37, 45 and 53-ball tons against Sri Lanka (1996), India (2005) and Bangladesh (2010), respectively.
Young opener Saim Ayub, 22, hit a record-breaking 53-ball century in the second match after Abrar Ahmed (4/33) and Agha Salman (3/26) destroyed the Zimbabwean lineup (145 all out in 32.3 overs). Chasing a modest target, Ayub smashed 113 with the help of 17 fours and three sixes.
Zimbabwe vs Pakistan ODI Head-To-Head
Pakistan lead Zimbabwe 54-6 in 63 meetings. There was one tied match (in 1995, Harare) and one no result (in 2015, Lahore).
