First forward venture from Mumbai City, and Noufal -- playing in an unfamiliar right wing-back role -- puts in a teasing cross into the box, but Shubham is alert and catches it.

A very even start so far, with neither team capitalising from their forays into the opponent's box. Tomba saw a shot from distance sail wide, while Chhangte is putting in perfectly timed runs into the box, but the final pass is just not three yet. Kashi are, by no means, looking like underdogs in the first stage of the game.

Mumbai City are trying to find Karelis and Ortiz with piercing through balls, but the Kashi defence is packed tightly, with Bijoy Varghese cutting out every ball coming from his side. MCFC push forward though, and Karelis, under pressure from David Humanes, takes a shot from distance, but it bounces and goes wide, but not by much.

The game is a bit scrappy at the moment. Neither team is able to get any sustained period of possession, with most moves ending in a foul or mis-pass. Both teams need to work harder to keep a hold of the ball.

Meanwhile, Vikram Partap found himself cutting inside the box with a lobbed ball, but Vijoy is alert and keeps out the danger.

After Mario Barco wins a free-kick down the left side of the pitch, Tomba Singh floated in a good box, and it finds the head of Sarthak Golui, but it goes up and over the bar.

Meanwhile, the game is stopped after bees attack the referee -- unreal! We go to drinks breaks while the coaching staff get the pesky attackers off their persons.

After a solid five-minutes break while the bees were swatted away, the match resumes.

The bees have swarmed the pitch again, and the linesman is down, covering his head with a towel after the bees have returned. Another break in the game. Even the fans on the stadium are not being spared.

The linesman finally managed, and the referees have changed their outfits. Aritra Das restarts the game with a throw-in.

As expected, a huge amount of time is added on by the fourth-official, with a minimum of 14 minutes to be played.

Mumbai City's defensive woes continue as Nathan Rodrigues goes down with an apparent injury. The 27-year-old tried to stop the onrushing Prasanth, but seemed to catch his foot on the pitch. Prasanth immediately signalled for a substitution towards the Mumbai bench, and Thaer Krouma -- himself just fit again after an injury -- was being prepared to come on as a like-for-like change.

Valpuia too signals for a change towards the manager, and the stretcher is out, and Nathan's match is over for tonight. The manager will hope that it's not a knee injury.

A weird decision from the referee, as Mario Barco finds his name in the ref's books after two Mumbai City players have a coming together, with the Spaniard just getting his back to them.

Woah, woah! Kashi almost get it right at the break. Prasanth was set free with a fantastic through ball, and the winger finds Mumbai's goalkeeper some way off his line, but goes down easily under a nudge from Krouma. The ball falls to Edmund, and his shot goes wide.

In the ensuing corner, Nikola Stajanovic takes a fantastic shot, but it goes just wide.

The referee blows his whistle, finally, and we are going to the break still goalless.

An early chance for Mumbai City, as Noufal -- having a good game in his new position -- puts in a good cross towards the centre of the box, and Ortiz hits it first time, but the shot is straight at the keeper and Shubham Das gets a strong hand to it.

Edmund Lalrindika steals after a lose volleyed pass from Valpuia, and the attacker tries to get ahead of the defender, and Valpuia tugs the attacker down with a clear pull of the jersey, but the referee does not even call a foul! Astonishing oversight from the official.

Terrible defending from Inter Kashi, as Mehtab finds himself completley free in the box, but his header manages to hit the post and comes back into the mix, and Karelis tries to hit a scissor kick from barely six yards out but it goes wide.

Shubham's clearance is found by Bryce Miranda, but instead of shooting it first time, he cuts inside, but is swarmed by the defence and shoots wide under pressure.

City almost respond in style, with Ortiz finding Karelis on the edge of the box, but his outside-the-boot shot goes just wide after a stunning save by Shubham.

The big chances are all falling to the home side at the moment, with Ortiz's creativity really causing problems to Inter Kashi's midfield.

Kashi are still threatening on the break, and Tomba almost finds Bryce with a lobbed ball before Rehenesh hacks it away. Tomba and Stojanovic are really keeping it ticking for the underdogs, despite taking it so much pressure from Mumbai's attacks.

More than an hour of football played, and just ONE shot on target in the entire match -- by Mumbai City.

Inter Kashi are very slow when they go on the attack, and Edmund has been effectively marked out by Vikram Partap and Mehtab.

Mumbai City break forward with lightning pace, and after across from Noufal, Ortiz has a couple of cracks at goal but gets blocked off by the defence every time. It finally falls to Chhangte's feet, and the skipper makes no mistake, with his swerving shot flying past Shubham Das to give Mumbai the breakthrough.

Inter Kashi look to shake up their formation, and go for a more attacking formation to get the equaliser, especially with Edmund not enjoying much freedom at the moment.

Edmund's tenacity pays off, as the attacker almost steals the ball of Valpuia in the box, but TP Rehenesh rushes in, getting himself hurt but keeping the ball away.

Despite their best efforts, Kashi fail to break down the Mumbai City defence. Only two shots on target in the entire game, both coming from the Islanders. It ends 1-0 at the Kalinga Stadium, with Chhangte's moment of magic the only difference in tonight's match.
