Mohammedan Sporting 2-2 Punjab FC Highlights, Indian Super League: Black Panthers Sign Off With Fighting Draw

Punjab FC have won the only ISL match between these two sides so far. Mohammedan Sporting would thus would be looking to draw level in the head-to-head of this fixture.

The first half begins with Punjab attacking from right to left and Mohammedan Sporting from left to right. Though nothing much is at stake except pride for both teams in this contest, they will strive to sign off with a victory.

Punjab FC conjure a delightfully crafted team goal in the 9th minute. A series of deft passes in the left flank lead to Asmir Suljic setting up Ezequiel Vidal beautifully in the centre of the box, and the Argentine midfielder makes no mistake to put the Shers ahead. The commentators reckon it is a contender for goal of the season.

Mohammedan Sporting defender Joe Zoherliana takes a crack at the Punjab goal with his right foot from outside the box in the 20th minute, but goalie Muheet Shabir is equal to the task and palms it away.

Punjab FC defender Pramveer Singh now misses with a header. Asmir Suljic sends in an accurate corner kick which Singh meets, but his attempt goes just wide in the 35th minute.

The first half ends with the Shers in front, courtesy that brilliant team goal finished off by Vidal in the ninth minute. They have created a fair few chances, and could well have been 3-0 or more up if not for some near misses. Hosts Mohammedan Sporting need to find a way back in the second half.

Action resumes after the mid-game interval and Punjab FC are now attacking from left to right, and Mohammedan Sporting on the other end. The hosts need to find their rhythm in the next half an hour if they are to force a comeback.

Punjab FC have their second, as their cherished marksman Luka Majcen pounces on a defensive error from Mohammedan in the 53rd. The Slovenian striker charges into the box and drills it in with his right foot to double the Shers' lead. 

Mohammedan Sporting have a rejoinder in the 58th minute. It's a scrappy goal, but a goal nonetheless as the ball falls into the Punjab box and after a lot of jostling, Marc Schmerbock taps it in from his left foot. The Black Panthers have opened the door now; can they barge in?

This is an excellent fightback from the home team. Mohammedan Sporting have drawn level with an exhilarating finish by Robi Hansda in the 66th minute. It was Franca's move through and through, as he weaved past Punjab defenders and made the most of an incisive run by passing it on to Hansda, who takes aim with his right foot and finds the target on the top centre.

The game's state has changed entirely in the past half an hour. Mohammedan Sporting have come out with a vengeance and are now calling the shots after drawing level. We are veering close to 90 minutes of regulation time and await to learn the number of minutes of added time.

The final whistle is blown after four minutes of added time, and the scoreline reads 2-2. Mohammedan Sporting fought back valiantly from 0-2 down, and bow out of the season in the bottom spot but with their heads held high. As for the Shers, they would have expected a win up till the 58th minute but have to be content with one point in their last game of the season.
